The Band

Superdrive are one of the Brazilian underground band’s best kept energy; purveyors of soulful, powerful, and often deeply-moving music, whose blistering live shows leave their audiences breathless.

When Andre Biaggio, Superdriver’s guitar man and lead singer, founded the band in 2003, he never figure out how far his simple idea could become a reality.

From Alleys to the Arenas

In the beginning, Andre was a member of Ofence (1995), a HC band from Campinas-SP, where he could not shows what he really would like to do. After some recording sessions and stages experiences he quit with Ofence and starts several bands as The Downers, Rain Drops and make some recordings with others, playing for tiny public in pubs, bars and other small places. But after several years and further experiences, in 2003, he formed the SUPERDRIVE band, a quartet debuting a great album called Driving Music in 2004. If you ever wondered what it would've been like if Teenage Fanclub skipped a couple records and recorded "Grand Prix" straight after "A Catholic Education", then this album is your answer! It contains eight top-notch TFC/Big Star-influenced songs with a fuzzy sound that also recalls Smudge and even Ride at times (their shoegazer tendencies are also hinted at by their cover of the Stone Roses classic, "Elephant Stone").

Like the band's name suggests, the songs are full of energy and loads of melody, and pretty much every song on this album is a winner, so I won't even bother to list the highlights. Oh man, is this ever good!

This CD “Driving Music”, bring good and bad feelings to the band and the line-up changes starts, but Andre never gave up, sometimes as a power-trio, sometimes as a quartet and the hard work started to works and the “Driving Music” CD opened doors to Superdrive and the band was the overture presentation of Placebo’s Tour 2005, at Red Arena Events, in Brazil. This situation, instead bring only new and good goals, also brought new problems to the band because some members were separated and are living in different towns and almost they do not playing their music anymore.

It was time to change again and Andre choose to his near close friends and local musicians in order to starts the brand new phase of Superdrive. Keeping the heart´s fans beating, Andre Biaggio, Alex Armellini (Japa), Edu Mantovani and Fernando Urbano are working hard and doing several shows, including some sold-out situations.

This phase and goals brought a new heart and energy to the band and predictions of doom were swiftly dispelled, as across a further TEN new songs. They forged into new musical territories with a succession of inventive, emotional songs, displaying little regard to the vagaries of The Musical Fashion Police, or the bandwagoneering of radio playlists.

Currently, they are motivate by a coming up new album, probably called Hyde Park 1082 and by some others good news (still’s a secret) and freeing themselves up to produce some of the finest music of their career.
